Scoot

It’s been fun lately to watch Ava become more interested in physical pursuits. I haven’t pushed her in this direction at all, mainly because I wanted to see what kind of natural affinity she’d have for things like throwing balls and riding bikes and scooters.

Well, my intentions turned out to be moot, because Ava’s friends in the neighborhood are about as physically active as kids can be, and if she wants to hang with them — which she does — she’d better get used to getting into the mix.

Lately, the activity has become manifest in scooter riding, which apparently is the thing to do among kids this age. Ava has a nice Razor scooter that my dad got her last year, but she’s not totally comfortable on it yet. The balance thing is still developing. As luck would have it, Ava’s friend Aaron has a scooter with two wheels on front that’s easier for her to ride, and he’s let her borrow it for a spell. She loves it. I’m hoping she’ll get comfortable enough on it that she wants to make the jump to the Razor, but if she doesn’t, no biggie. So long as she’s having fun.
