My sweet, sweet Ava. This has been a tough couple weeks for our little girl. It’s wonderful to watch you with your new little brother, how you kiss his brow and pat his head. We can’t wait to watch you two grow up together.
Your mom and I are worried that you’re losing your sense of place now that Emmett is here. We’ve made a concerted effort to make sure you feel like a part of Em’s arrival, but we understand it must look to you like it’s all about the new kid right now.
I want you to tell you that, somehow, you’re even more amazing to me now than before Emmett was born. You’re more beautiful. Smarter. Funnier. More gentle. I sat across the table from you last night on our dinner date and just marveled at your big brown eyes. While your mom and I would’ve been thrilled with any healthy baby born to us, we were extra relieved (amidst our surprise) that we’d had a boy. That means you’ll always stay our special girl, no matter what.
