Coffee ‘n donuts

Well, not quite. But I’m sure there are less objectionable ways to start one’s morning. Leah and I did our first IUI this morning after she received a positive ovulation indicator last night before bed. So after dropping off Ava, we were off the the hospital. Once there, I “produced” a “sample,” which was then cleaned and vetted for only the best candidates. Those candidates were then given a special escort into the heart of Leah’s reproductive system via a little syringe.

More salacious details and a vaguely NSFW image after the jump…you’ve been warned.

Leah’s ovulation was later than usual this month. We’d been planning on doing IUI, and the rules state that the male partner needs to have ejaculated no more recently than two days before the procedure, but not more than seven. In lieu of getting too graphic (I know, I know; TOO LATE!), Leah and I ended up taking advantage of Ava’s overnight visit to her grandmother’s on Sunday morning. I was on day six, and we ultimately decided it was better to move some sperm than to go over the seven-day limit. We were a bit worried this morning that I wouldn’t be able to get the job done with my sample, but everything looked “excellent,” according to the lab techs. We were relieved.

A few representative pics from our morning…

A sample of the inspirational material they provided in the collection room:
