Had to happen sooner or later (?)

In case ya didn’t know, I’m a fan of Hardee’s. I actually only eat there three or four times a year, tops, but it’s really the only fast food burger joint I frequent (if you can call that schedule “frequenting”).

So we’re out and about this weekend, running errands, and Ava contributes at one point that she’s hungry. Jokingly, I say, “How’d you like a hamburger from Hardee’s?” She replies, “With fries?” Next thing you know, Ava’s in her car seat, chowing down on a kids’ meal. I was a little bit thrilled that she seemed to be eating with gusto and a little bit sickened at what she was eating. I didn’t even get myself anything! I figured it was worth commemorating:

  • I will make a prediction right here and now: kid #2 will not wait so long. ; } Sorry to be all snotty about it - I just know how much we agonized {still do} about so much for Aida and with Pablo we are all like "uh - what harm can it do?..."

    And from what my friends say about kid #3 - they can pick up french fries from the floor of McDonald's and their moms don't care. ; }

    "She liked it so much that I’m worried she’ll ask for it again–"

    And again and again and again...

    This is her very first fast-food hamburger experience anywhere, and I almost wish we'd said "no" to this one, too. She liked it so much that I'm worried she'll ask for it again--and I definitely don't want it to become a habit.
  • Ava looks so grown-up.

    And seriously - is this her first kid's meal? Because if so, that's awesome.

    you mean to tell me ava's never had a kid's meal from a fast food place before? or just hardees?
  • Only 3 or 4 times a year? Dude....I cannot go that long without some Mickey D fries. Or sourdough frisco from Hardees. Mmmmm....
  • Don't beat yourself up. If she hadn't gotten it from you, she would have gotten it on the streets, and then who knows what it would have been cut with. Better for her to get it from you than from some surly burger-dealer under the bridge.

    If there were still a Hardees downtown, imagine what kind of adulterated product she could have gotten from those Ped Mall punks!
