Words hardly do justice to the splendid meal we had at Simone’s Plain and Simple last Friday night. It was everything I hoped it would be. And a little bit more. Here’s the menu:<\/p>\n

An assortment of Hors d’oeuvres
\n<\/span><\/font>‘Goug\u00c3\u00a8re bourguignonne’ <\/em>– a wreath of puff pastry with mild Swiss cheese<\/span><\/font>
\n‘Estouffade de Bison’<\/em> – Bison, marinated in red wine, slow baked, “smothered”. Served with a puree of mashed potatoes and celeriac and some apples
\nA Green salad
\nAn assortment of cheeses
\nVanilla hot fudge sundae
\nA Pear Tart<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Simone even put a couple candles on the tart for my birthday, which was a very nice surprise. We also had a great selection of wines, including a white burgundy for the hors d’oeuvres and the goug\u00c3\u00a8re, a couple different red blends for the bison, and a perfect muscato to accompany the tart; the muscato\/tart team was easily the best wine pairing I’ve ever tasted.<\/p>\n
