Leah’s taking Ava to Decorah this afternoon for a girls weekend<\/a>, so I’ll be on my own until Sunday afternoon.\u00c2\u00a0 What to do, what to do….<\/p>\n

Tonight I’m going to have a little screening of International<\/strike> Blue Velvet<\/a>, which is on loan from a friend.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve never seen it before, and everyone I’ve ever heard mention it says, “you have <\/em>to see it,” so, I’m seeing it.\u00c2\u00a0 Probably throw together some dinner with all the veggies I have from this week’s CSA share.\u00c2\u00a0 How much do I love cabbage?\u00c2\u00a0 We’ll find out.<\/p>\n

I hope to get some biking done at some point, though it’ll have to get squeezed in between weeding the garden and mowing the lawn.\u00c2\u00a0 Saturday evening I’m heading out to Simone’s Plain and Simple<\/a> for dinner with a group of family and friends.\u00c2\u00a0 I wish Ava could be along, because she’d love seeing all the goats and chickens on Simone’s farm.\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe next year.\u00c2\u00a0 If you’ve never been out to Simone’s for one of her pizza dinners before, get some friends together and GO (she does other dinners, too)!\u00c2\u00a0 It’s a great time.\u00c2\u00a0 Probably as close as you’ll get in Iowa to dining in the French countryside.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s BYOB, so you can tote along a bottle of your favorite wine(s) to share.<\/p>\n

Speaking of gardening, a new lily just opened up yesterday in the back bed.\u00c2\u00a0 You can see it in the lower left-hand corner of the picture here<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 They’re nice.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope they make it through the winter.\u00c2\u00a0 You can also see the scabiosa <\/a>over on the right.\u00c2\u00a0 What a nasty name for such a pretty flower.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
