I really do like this variety a lot, with its bright red petals and yellow center.<\/p>\n<p>A quick tour of the yard revealed a number of other tulips on the verge of blooming.  Also, we have more fern peonies this year than I&#8217;ve ever seen before, probably because I pruned back a couple of the larger standard peony plants.<\/p>\n<p>This flower sure was a welcome sight after all of last night&#8217;s hail and wind and rain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The year&#8217;s first tulip burst open this morning in the back yard.
