He and I are ham n’ eggs guys, which I love. I mean, I love ham and eggs, too, but I love that Emmett loves them like I do. Anyway, we were downstairs for breakfast, and Emmett was playing with his new(ish) cement mixer. It’s a gorgeous cement mixer, and he loves it. He was pushing it around in the living room for a while, and then he walked into the kitchen, looked up at me, and said, “Come play ment misser, daddy?” It was so cute I thought my brain was going to pop out of the top of my head. The eggs were just about done, so I squatted down next to Emmett, put my arm around him, and said, “I’ll come play in a minute, when the eggs are done, OK?”<\/p>\n
“K, daddy.” Then I gave him a hug and said, “I love you, buddy.” He only squirmed from my arms, pointed to the living room, and said, “Goin’ play ment misser now.” And off he went.<\/p>\n
It’s not that I think he’ll never say “I love you” back. In fact he might start soon, if his verbal development keeps up at its current pace. But it sure is frustrating to not get any feedback now. It’s like living with a cat.
