Today’s a big day for me.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve been trying to get Ava to say her name for a while now, and this evening was the first time I’ve heard her do it.<\/p>\n
That it’s taken so long is our fault.\u00c2\u00a0 Leah and I have been calling her “baby” for a long time now.\u00c2\u00a0 Up until today, when we’re all sitting together Ava will occasionally point at Leah and say, “mama.”\u00c2\u00a0 Then she points at me and says, “dada.”\u00c2\u00a0 Then she points at herself and says, “baby.”\u00c2\u00a0 Technically she’s right, of course; She’s the baby.<\/p>\n
The catch is, we want her to stay our baby.\u00c2\u00a0 And we want her to be Ava.\u00c2\u00a0 I guess what we really want is for her to be like Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ll be Jerry Orbach’s character.\u00c2\u00a0 It’ll be great.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" That’s how Ava pronounces her name.
