Question: Is it okay for one spouse to make a major, personal purchase (for an item worth more than $500) without consulting with the other spouse? (Keeping in mind that the spouses have separate checking/savings accounts and split the household bills fairly evenly between the two.) What do all of you blog readers think? Acceptable or not?

Kevin and Rachel were in town over the weekend, and Kevin brought along his camera. Good thing, too, because it enabled him to take this shot of Ava goofing around in the tub.

Today we took Ava out for her first ice skating adventure. I was astounded by how well she did. This is toward the end of our outing, when she circled the rink twice with almost no help from me at all.

*sigh*

I always knew there was something about that Fallon kid that I liked. I’m happy that I can now put my finger on it. If you need a reference for these lyrics/backstory, google “general larry platt.”

I love this card Ava made for her grandma. We often try to get Ava to make cards for family members for special events, with varying degrees of success. But I gave Ava some alone time the other day with her paper and markers, and this is what she came up with. Not too shabby, but then I’m insanely (almost literally) biased.

Yes, Ava cut herself some new bangs this past weekend.

I’ll just keep posting this stuff until either someone cries “uncle.” Video taken this morning of Emmett hanging out in one of his favorite spots:

Note that he’d much rather stand outside the activity center like this than hang by his crotch inside it. And who could blame him…? I had to sneak up on him at the start, because he’s started coming at me immediately when he sees me holding the video camera.

I know this is part of the gig, my beloved Ava, but I caught myself sitting at my desk just now, staring at a photograph (ok, ok, an “image”) of you, and feeling my heart ache for all the times you’ll be away from me. Sleepovers. Field trips. Dates. College. Conferences….
