Emmett’s seemed like a pretty steady little guy, really, temperament-wise. But lately he’s becoming more physical and more obstinate at the same time, which is a frustrating combination.
Maybe the most frustrating aspect of this phase is that Emmett signals he’s done with a meal by turning his plate over with whatever’s left on it and then throwing his milk cup on the floor. And his utensils. All performed while sporting his best mischievous grin. And his throwing isn’t relegated solely to food items. Books, toys, phones, remote controls…anything able to be lifted is thrown. Sometimes he’ll say, “Sorry!” right after he’s thrown the item, but mostly he does it and then just smiles at us.
He’s also beginning to not take any s#%t from his big sister. Watching them wrestle on the bed makes clear Emmett’s going to someday soon have the physical wherewithal to give Ava a sound thrashing whenever he likes. If theirs are anything like the brawls my brother and I used to wage, I’d better get back on the weight bench to prepare for my referee duties.
