The hospital in which Leah delivered Emmett has a nice service where they send a nurse by your house a couple days after you’re home. She checks on the mom and baby and provides lots of info on nursing, child safety, and even fire extinguishers. Our visit happened today.
Rather than bore you with every detail, I’ll mention that Emmett is back up to his birth weight and has a head 14.5″ ’round. The way he’s been eating, it’s no wonder he’s so quickly gained back the six ounces he lost at the hospital. Jaundice number has dropped off even lower than the already-low reading he gave at the hospital, and all his other vitals look good. As I type this, he’s rockin’ away in the swing our friends Dawn and Jim are letting us borrow. Leah’s upstairs, napping, and Ava’s back at school for her first day of summer camp. I’m still coming to terms with the fact that this is my last work day home with Emmett. But I do believe it’s more important for Leah to have more time at home with him right now, particularly since she’s breastfeeding. I’ve already volunteered to take the boy to get his big shots appointments at the pediatrician’s, so I hope those aren’t the only early memories he has of me. I also want to leave you with a pic, natch.
