I had a dream last night that I was typing an e-mail on an iPhone. I don’t recall the recipient or the subject, but my fingers were flying across the touchscreen with almost no thought to the mechanics of the process, like I was born to it. I rarely remember my dreams; why this one? I’m sure Ben will tell me.
Another thing: The coveted “#1 Explore” spot on Flickr. From a marketing standpoint, I suppose it’s a boon for Flickr. I mean, the Yahoo! people who came on board following the Flickr acquisition are used to “the social” ruling all. Forget that Flickr is first and foremost about the photos. The Explore crowd seems to be populated mainly by the folks who create annoying animated GIFs that they include in every single comment they make on a photo. Or the people who create incredibly arcane fetish groups: Hi! I’m an admin for a group called “Dwarfs with pinky toe rings,” and we’d love to have your image added to the group!” For realz? Half the time I withhold commenting on a picture because I know it’s going to soon be covered with loads of comment image spam, and that just totally gunks up my “Comments you’ve made” view.
I sure am enjoying the luxury of having such petty things to gripe about. It’s not like my house has been washed away and all my belongings with it.
