The “floor guys” started yesterday and made a lot of headway getting the stair treads and second floor sanded. It looks very cool, and it’ll look even cooler once the poly is applied. After work last evening, my brother and I ran an errand out to Lowe’s and then headed back to the new place to get the LCD mount on the wall. We added some extra support in the crawl space (also, “Command Center”) behind the wall, and now the television is hanging there very, very securely.
When that was done, I headed up into the attic to finish hooking up the bathroom vent fan. Man, is it tight up there. The air handler for the AC unit is crammed into just about every square inch of space in the tiny attic, so moving around to do wiring and duct work was a real treat. Thank goodness it wasn’t the middle of a 90-degree day; I would’ve baked.
I didn’t get home until almost 12:30. Leah was freaking out and had already called the police to see if they’d drive by the house and check on me. She was convinced I’d electrocuted myself in the attic and was lying up there like a burnt bratwurst on top of the insulation. But I was fine, if a little tired.
This morning we met the painter at the house at 7:30 for a walkthrough and to give him his $5,2oo check. The place does look very nice. He pointed out that one of his workers had inadvertently dropped the end of a curtain rod on the sink in the first-floor bath, chipping it badly enough that we need to replace it. The painter will pick up a new sink, and we’ll have our plumber install it next week when he comes to run the gas line for the stove.
I’ll try to get some pictures of the place today at lunch. It sounds like the floor guys will be far enough along this afternoon to get a coat of poly on, which means no more traipsing around upstairs for a couple days.
