This weekend is shaping up to be Christmas Prep Weekend 2006, so long as Ava seems in good health tomorrow morning. Plans include Christmas tree search and acquisition, breakfast and ornament shopping in the Amanas, and various acts of senseless decoration around the house.
This morning when I was at the Java House ordering Leah’s skinny decaf latte half shot vanilla, the barista mentioned she’d just had her first episode of Christmas tree sabotage at her house, perpetrated by her toddler son. I’ve been giving some thought to how we’re going to keep Ava from stripping our tree of every light and ornament, but I always come to the somewhat reckless conclusion that our little angel of a daughter would never do anything nasty to the tree. We’ll see how I do with that.
I wouldn’t mind getting a foot or so of snow overnight. A nice blanket of white makes things so much more festive this time of year. No wonder Californians are so crazy. Imagine shopping for a Christmas tree each year in a t-shirt and shorts.
