That was then, this is now

Our due date came and went with no baby. I think we were both expecting this scenario, but it does ratchet up the anxiety a bit. At our last appt., Leah’s doctor offered to have Leah come by the hospital today to “get checked,” and I think Leah might avail herself of that opportunity. For posterity, we took a couple pictures out in the yard last evening of Leah on her due date.

Compare/contrast with Leah on her due date back in 2004:

I’ll leave it to you whether she looks bigger this time around. Were I you, I’d keep your opinions out of the comments, at least if you’re local. It’s for your own safety.

I Honestly don’t think she looks any bigger – and certainly not any older.

Oh, I’m much bigger this time. Only gained 20 lbs. with Ava because of my gestational diabetes, and I bet I’m pushing 40 this time–though I stopped looking after hitting the 25-lb. gain mark. :)

It’s all belly, though. You are still a svelte little thing under the fetus and placenta and whatnot. You’ll probably be back to your pre-preg weight in like 2 weeks.

When I was pregnant with Aida in Japan I received a little book to bring to all my appointments – the drs would write all medical info in there. {if we would have stayed in Japan I would have continued to take it to all Aida’s medical and dental appointments – kinda clever actually} However the thing that sucked was if I gained too much weight I would get a red stamp in my book! My first stamp literally made me cry – after a while I just got used to them.
