Almost 22 weeks

Hey, unborn baby. I took a couple more maternity photos of your mother over the weekend and thought you might enjoy a peek. Pretty, huh? I almost hope you’re a girl, just so these genes aren’t squandered on a boy.

Next time, I’ll have to get her to stand on something on the bed, just to get that headboard out of there.

Gorgeous! The wall color really plays well off Leah’s skin. Round pregnancy tummies are the best.

Very well done, Mark. Tasteful, simple, elegant, intimate, beautiful. A pretty, glowing momma and a great tribute to the little one’s progress.

Thanks. This actually isn’t my favorite from the shoot. That would be this one.

Yeah, but Leah looks petrified in that one. At least the first one she looked happy. :)

If you had that growing in you, you’d be petrified, too.

True dat. I do love the lighting. How did you manage?

Our bedroom gets great natural light. Even so, as we were looking at these last evening, Leah said, “How can we get them to look like Dooce’s pregnancy shots?” And I’m like, “Buy a lighting setup.” It’s like someone sitting down to a dinner you’ve spent a lot of time on and saying, “This tastes like shit!” Not that I’d know what THAT’S like….

Don’t worry too much, it’s something that Landa comments on, too. “But…it doesn’t look like THIS AWESOME PHOTO.” That’s nice, dear, but they have a $2,000 camera, a studio, and fancy flashes. Anytime you want to get on that, we can work on those sorts of things. Until then, you get what we can manage. :)

I’m still learning to balance shutter with ISO and aperture to try to get great shots in natural lighting without any flash fill. It’s not as easy as you’d think, I’ve discovered.

Which is exactly why I’m pining for the Canon 50mm f/1.4. One day….
