"Flash is a crash happy resource hog full of security holes. It is a horribly bloated and slow crutch for lazy developers. If I come across a flash based site it is skipped and YouTube's HTML 5 offers better performance, higher reliability and lower CPU utilization. Even Silverlight is superior to Flash.

Flash is dying and the existence of Flashblock and Clicktoflash and other flash blocking plugins shows that people are getting sick of the bloat and horrible performance. I run Clicktoflash and >95% of the time, flash is used for advertising, Java is used for menus.

The faster flash dies, the better."

Boxee

The AppleTV just keeps getting better. My tech benefactor hooked me up with a Boxee invite this week, and I installed it on the ATV at noon today. It’s a slick interface. Built on the vaunted XBox Media Center, Boxee plays all sorts of video formats and streams radio and video from places like Hulu and last.fm on the ‘Net. And the best part, for me, is that Boxee is a super simple install, so long as you have a 1GB USB stick around. The last.fm integration alone is worth the Boxee download, but I haven’t had a chance to play with all the bells and whistles. I’m eager to see how the product improves over time, as the current release is still an invite-only alpha.

That means that the combined value of all Apple’s outstanding shares of stock exceeded the combined value of all Google’s outstanding shares of stock. Apple’s stock is worth $157 billion and change vs. Google’s $156 billion. Other companies Apple has surpassed in market cap include Cisco, HP, and Intel. Also, Apple is now worth 3 times the value of Dell Computer, despite Dell’s founder and CEO declaring over a decade ago that if he ran Apple, he’d ‘shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.’“
