Apologies to Neil Diamond.

We’ve had a fairly typical end of summer this year and are bracing ourselves for the onset of cold and flu season; the sniffles, congestion, and coughs have already begun, but no fever, yet.

Good times were had by all at this year’s apple cider weekend at G.G. and Poom Poom’s place in Decorah. I think next year Emmett will actually be big enough to turn the big crank on the press all by himself.

Even more recently, Ava and Leah marched in the City High School homecoming parade, which features a large presence from each of the elementary schools on the east side of town. There was enough red and white floating around to choke a horse…that doesn’t like red and white stuff.

Next up: Halloween! Or, if you’ve been shopping at any of the stores in town, Christmas! Poor Thanksgiving. It’s just not commercial enough. Will we even celebrate it 50 years from now?

When I saw AGP this morning, sitting on the porch swing with the morning sun shining through her side pony, I had to force her to sit for a portrait. Sometimes when I look at yet another picture of either of the kids, I wonder why I never get tired of looking at pictures of them. One thing’s for sure: Someday I’m going to be able to make a badass photo collage of their early years.
