Hard times coming your way

June 2nd, 2009 · by map · 7 Comments

My sweet, sweet Ava. This has been a tough couple weeks for our little girl. It’s wonderful to watch you with your new little brother, how you kiss his brow and pat his head. We can’t wait to watch you two grow up together.

Your mom and I are worried that you’re losing your sense of place now that Emmett is here. We’ve made a concerted effort to make sure you feel like a part of Em’s arrival, but we understand it must look to you like it’s all about the new kid right now.

I want you to tell you that, somehow, you’re even more amazing to me now than before Emmett was born. You’re more beautiful. Smarter. Funnier. More gentle. I sat across the table from you last night on our dinner date and just marveled at your big brown eyes. While your mom and I would’ve been thrilled with any healthy baby born to us, we were extra relieved (amidst our surprise) that we’d had a boy. That means you’ll always stay our special girl, no matter what.

And suddenly your first born will seem so much more grown up.

That is so true what Cindy wrote – I remember all of a sudden Aida looked like a giant.

    lovely post dad.

Well, you made your overly hormonal wife teary, sweetheart. Thanks for this lovely message to our daughter.

Leah – he made me teary too and he wasn't talking about my daughter and I am not even hormonal at the moment!

All this hormone talk reminds me of a joke that Leah no longer permits me to tell. Google “how to make a hormone.” Thank me later.

i believe you said that was leah's favorite joke on my blog…

ava will love her brother… just keep an eye on her.

every so often hunter experiments with how hard she has to squeeze her brother before he squeaks.
