Battle of wills

October 2nd, 2008 · by map · View Comments

I think we mentioned that Ava’s been waking up every night (morning) between 2 and 4 and crying in her bed. At which point, one of us gets up and brings her into our room. It’s frustrating.

Night before last, it was the same thing. Only upon waking in the morning, Ava mumbled something incoherently over and over. Leah kept asking Ava to repeat herself, and finally we were able to discern that Ava had wet our bed. Perfect. I was mad, but Leah was, as always, the picture of restraint and mollification. After we stripped the top sheet off the bed, the girls lay there for a while longer while I started getting ready for work (turns out the bed was only a little wet). At one point, Ava said, “I had a dream that I was going to the bathroom, but I woke up and I was in bed!” Funny little thing. Who among us hasn’t had that dream? I was suddenly a little less upset.

But only a little.

For whatever reason, Keston chooses nighttimes to go on a bender with his bottle. He sucks down between 3-4 every night, so we either have to check him every time we hear him stir, or change bedsheets at least once a night because Pampers can only hold so many gallons before they give up the ghost and cry Uncle. Guess which one we got to do at 3am last night? :)

Ah, but has your child ever thrown up in your bed?

    Good times.

Sadly, yes she has. :) No wonder we parents of young children are always so tired.

Jack once pretended he wet his bed, went through the trouble of changing his pj’s, just so he could come into our bed and not get walked back to his room. It was the next morning we discovered there was no wet bed.
