Last day of daycare

I wanted to get a picture of Ava on her last day of daycare today. This is before she left in the morning:

She had a good day, and it was very sweet when we went to pick her up this afternoon. All her friends gave her hugs and kisses, and a couple of the daycare workers broke down in tears (as did Leah). Ava really did have a good time there, and she made some good friends.

Tomorrow it’s on to Willowwind School to begin preschool. Because Ava misses the kindergarten cutoff for the Iowa City Community School District by two days, she’ll be at Willowwind for an extra year before starting elementary school. We’re excited to see how she likes the new place.

    Well, I will say it was bitter when she called one of her new classmates “poopy face” within five minutes of entering her new room. Leah’s now worried Ava’s going to get kicked out.

    Emily is the same way. She turns 5 right after the cut off and won’t go to kindergarten until the year AFTER this one. So, she is enrolled in an all day, every day preschool at the school she’ll be going to … so it will be just like kindergarten, only she won’t be able to ride the bus. HA!

    Look forward to hearing about her first day at her new school! HOW EXCITING!

    Just for the record, she has NEVER done that in daycare. I think she was just nervous and acting out a bit. I think she’ll have a great time. It was harder for me this morning than it was for her. :)

    Pablo called a friend a “poop nugget” yesterday – right in front of said friends mom. Luckily for Pablo the mom informed me that she knew for a fact that her kid had taught Pablo the expression.
