Packing list

December 31st, 2007 · by map · View Comments

We’re under a week away from our trip to Mexico. You know, I’d travel a lot more if I could use a transporter. Just disappear from one place and appear in another place in a snap of the fingers. But this flying stuff is for the birds, and only the birds. I’m still determined to pack as little as I can. Here’s my list:

  • Camera. I can’t decide whether to take both lenses for the XTi or not, nor do I know whether I should bring my A620 along, too. Might as well, I guess.
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste.
  • Swim trunks.
  • Couple pairs of boxers.
  • Couple t-shirts.
  • Pair of shorts.
  • Flip flops.

I’m not sure what to do about the plane. It’s going to be cold as a mofo when we leave C.R., so I suppose I should at least wear some wind pants. Maybe that’s the way to go. Those’ll be easy to roll up and stick in my bag when I bust out my shorts.

But first things first. I still don’t know for whom I’m going to caucus. And we still don’t have a sitter for that night. I have a feeling Obama is likely going to take our caucus, so it’d be smart to go for Hillary so I can get home early. I think Leah’s leaning towards Edwards, but I’m not sure. We caucused for Dean last time, and you all know how that turned out:

hilary???!!! We need to win the general election
  • Lauren
If I were you and my spouse was caucusing for Edwards I would caucus for Obama.

I really like both of them and would feel good that as a couple both bases were covered.

I'd be afraid of busting out of the Speedo long before we hit the beach. I'd first have to make it through O'Hare, then the Cancun airport, then the cab ride to the ferry, and finally the ferry ride to the island. I might be fairly chaffed by then.

Hey, our caucus location said it was okay to bring the kids. I guess they maybe have some activities for them or provide child care? Never too young to teach them the democratic process, I guess.

As for pants, anyone who's not a wuss would just wear the Speedo from CR and be ready to bust out onto the beach. :D

Hmm. It's a thought, Cindy. I guess I could wear those instead of some workout pants. Probably be more comfortable on the plane anyway. It's so nice to be surrounded by style mavens.
  • I think you are making a mistake by not packing or wearing khaki pants. They are so versatile.
