Moment of cuteness

Seems like a good time for one of these.

I took this the other day as Ava sat in front of the TV, again. It’s actually a great time to get portraits of her, as the afternoon light really pours through the windows in our little TV room, and especially now that the leaves are gone from the big maples outside the window.

    She is a beautiful child, in repose, when her mind is… wandering in front of the TV. Actually, I should try that. My boy has arrived at that time in his life when he tries to hide if the camera comes out. The TV (Between the Lions) may absorb his attention enough that he does not notice me. Now I just need a fancy camera.

    In all honesty, I am perpetually in awe of your photographs and your subjects. I just can’t let you know that, lest you get all full of yourself.

    You won’t catch me patting myself on the back for my photos anytime soon, not to worry. Credit for anything I shoot that comes out halfway decent should be attributed to the Canon digital sensor, fancy(-ish) lenses, and to the beauty and grace of my two favorite subjects.

    Ava rarely poses for me. I usually have to trick her somehow to get a picture of her, or tempt her with a cookie or some other treat. Unfortunately, Leah isn’t susceptible to either of those tactics (though she does love cookies), so I’m resigned to asking nicely. Or at least to cajoling a smile out of her.

    All that said, I just got two pictures selected for the annual calendar put out by a local nonprofit group that preserves a park close to our house. More on that soon….
