Moment of cuteness

September 28th, 2007 · by map · 8 Comments

Ava and I walked up the the nearby high school last evening to play with her ball. I used the opportunity to get some shots with the 75-300mm lens my friend Q loaned me. It’s a beauty. Not only did we have fun tossing the ball around, but I got some cool pictures, too.

Here, she’s throwing her ball up over her head. I like how her body is completely off the ground. Sure, the picture could be in focus and a bit brighter, but sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.

Great shot. Do you think you would have gotten it without an SLR?

Thanks, Denny! I dunno. I was wondering the same thing earlier today. If I’d had my A620 for this particular shot, no. I would’ve been way out of range to get this much detail. What’s more, I wouldn’t have had as much leeway with the A620, meaning the XTi (and even the 75-300*) is fast enough to get action like this. I would’ve had to have had focus set and everything else just right to get this with the A620. Impossible? No. But more labor intensive.

*The 75-300, while nice with its IS and all, is one slow mutha.

    Love this pic!
And as for brighter… (Apple) + M & then you nudge the white corner over — or further down the curve, depending. That, or you can use the Photo Filters (all of the above in Photoshop, of course, of course)…
